Position Overview

The Detroit Pistons are seeking a highly motivated and diligent Strategy Associate to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a key part in the development of strategic plans that shape the organization’s key priorities across various business functions.

The Strategy Analyst will ensure alignment with corporate objectives, drive analysis to identify new business opportunities, and lead high-impact strategic projects that push beyond basic analytics. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, support leadership, and manage the execution of actionable plans to drive business growth and success.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Strategic Planning & Development: Develop and implement strategic plans that align with the Pistons’ company goals and drive high-level priorities across key business areas, including revenue generation, fan engagement, and operations.
  • Analysis & Recommendations: Conduct in-depth analysis to evaluate new business opportunities and market trends. Provide data-driven recommendations that support decision-making and the execution of growth initiatives.
  • Project Leadership & Execution: Lead strategic projects by building hypotheses and applying strategic frameworks. Go beyond basic research and analytics to implement solutions and get results. Oversee the execution of actionable plans that arise from these projects, ensuring effective and efficient implementation.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with various teams across the organization, including marketing, ticketing, operations, finance, and HR, to ensure seamless alignment and execution of pivotal initiatives.
  • Project Management: Provide project management support for cross-functional teams, ensuring timely coordination of turning points and deliverables. Oversee timelines, resources, and communication to ensure projects are completed effectively.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Strategy, or related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred).
  • 2-4 years of experience in strategy consulting, corporate strategy, or business development, preferably in sports, entertainment, or a related industry.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights.
  • Experience with project management and leading cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas clearly and persuasively to senior leadership and collaborators.
  • Proven ability to think strategically, manage ambiguity, and work effectively across teams.
  • A passion for the sports and entertainment industry, with a deep understanding of the business of professional sports.
