General Description:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for aiding in the preparation, reconciliation and verification of daily, monthly and annual recording of Fixed Asset acquisition, tracking, and depreciation. S/he prepares financial and other related reports and spreadsheets for internal and external use; assists with the preparation of the budget, audit and cost report work papers.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for Fixed Asset accounting, including management of Meditech software program to appropriately track Capital Equipment, Depreciation and Disposal of Assets. Works with Controller to maintain records for Fixed Assets.
- Responsible for Meditech close day process, including reporting revenue and selected statistics.
- Responsible for accurate and timely daily and monthly reconciliation of cash accounts and temporary investments.
- Assists Directors in preparation of Capital Equipment Request forms, including ROI and other data gathering to support departmental requests.
- Performs accurate and timely monthly reconciliation of Other Receivables to include timely invoicing and reconciling payments received.
- Performs accurate and timely monthly reconciliation of Liability accounts.
- Works with other departments to improve accurate collection of data and statistics which may be used in monthly reporting and annual cost reports.
- Collects data and prepares monthly statistical reports.
- Assists with the preparation of the budget, audit and cost report work papers
- Analyzes and/or assists in other projects as needed to maintain cost containment and effective operation of the Accounting Department and Gila Regional Medical Center
- Assists with support of the office of the Chief Financial Officer
- Works as integral team member in monthly close out, annual audit, cost report and other work paper preparation.
Education And Training Requirements
- BS/BA in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
- 3 – 5 years experience in multi-functional accounting office, hospital experience preferred
- 3 – 5 years accounts payable, material management, inventory control experience preferred
- Strong personal computer skills, especially with word processing and spreadsheets. MediTech and Microsoft Office products experience required.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and their practical application in a hospital accounting department.
- Demonstrated analytical ability required
