Nestled in between the dramatic backdrop of rugged mountains and the pristine waters of the Sea of Oman, Shangri-La’s Barr Al Jissah Resort and Spa is set on 124 acres of stunning scenery and home to three spectacular hotels: the family orientated Al Waha comprises 262 rooms, the diverse Al Bandar comprises 198 deluxe rooms and the luxurious and most exclusive Al Husn has 180 elegantly appointed guestrooms and suites. The resort also features 22 Food and Beverage outlets, 1,056 sqm ballroom with 8 breakout rooms, a wide variety of recreational facilities, and a spa with 12 treatment villas.
Summary
The Sales Manager is responsible for promoting Shangri-La’s resorts in Muscat, Oman (Shangri-La Al Husn and Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah), to the Indian market. The role involves generating leads, sending proposals, managing contracts, and engaging directly with clients through face-to-face meetings, primarily based in Delhi, India. The Sales Manager handles local and International companies based in India for MICE and FIT. He/she, under the guidance of the Director of Sales & Marketing, implements all the sales activities and action plans outlined in the marketing plan of the hotel and maximizes business opportunities in his/her area of responsibility.
Under the guidance of the Director of Sales & Marketing, the Sales Manager will implement sales activities and strategies to achieve business goals, focusing on increasing the resorts’ market share from India. They will work independently, reporting results and performance metrics as per established policies. The role will liaise heavily with Shangri-La Global Sales Team to ensure territories are covered and specific accounts.The Sales Manager will have financial and activity targets which they are responsible for delivering and reporting on according to the agreed policies.
As a Sales Manager, we rely on you to
- Develop and execute strategies to generate leads and business from the Indian market for Shangri-La Al Husn and Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah.
- Handle proposals, contracts, and negotiations with clients in India, focusing on corporate clients, leisure groups, and high-profile individuals.
- Conduct face-to-face sales meetings and presentations with prospective clients in Delhi and other key cities in India.
- Work closely with the Regional Liaison Office in India to coordinate sales efforts and capitalize on market opportunities.
- Maximize upselling opportunities for rooms, dining, and events, ensuring the promotion of Shangri-La Muscat’s full range of services. Cross sells other Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts.
- Attends major travel functions and promotional events to promote sales (rooms, catering, F&B and other facilities and services) for the hotel.
- Supervises all aspects of familiarization groups including inquiry, coordination, and execution thereof. Monitors prospective and tentative events movements too assist in accurate forecasting of revenue.
- Maintains a high level of exposure for the hotel in major market area through direct sales, telephone, written communication.
- Attend industry functions, roadshows, and sales missions in India to enhance exposure of Shangri-La Muscat’s resorts.
- Actively manage a portfolio of Indian corporate and leisure accounts, building strong relationships to secure long-term business.
- Develop tailored proposals and contracts based on client needs, ensuring competitive pricing and maximum revenue generation.
- Analyze market trends and competitor activity in India, adjusting sales strategies accordingly to remain competitive and achieve targets.
- Analyze market change and, under direction of Director of Sales & Marketing implement programs to meet these changes, i.e., changes brought about by political, economical or competitive changes in the marketplace.
- Work with the Director of Sales & Marketing to provide regular feedback on market conditions and business results.
- Maintain regular communication with the Sales & Events teams at Shangri-La Muscat to ensure smooth coordination of client bookings and event planning.
- Provide monthly reports on sales activities and achievements to the Director of Sales & Marketing, as well as other senior stakeholders
- Participate in regional and global sales initiatives and campaigns to increase the visibility of Shangri-La Muscat within the Indian market.
- Responsible for dissemination of sales-related information to other departments as appropriate.
- Establishes and maintains files of hit list accounts.
- Ensures that the Shangri-La Account Management is strictly adhered to, to achieve maximum productivity levels.
- Ensures compliance with SLIM Delphi standards and integrity of database
- Be familiar with and use the sales & marketing software solutions i.e. Nexus, Meeting Broker, and IDeaS in managing the sales accounts and optimize all revenue opportunities.
Requirements
- Ideally holding a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
- 3 years experience in a Hotel Sales & Marketing
- Strong knowledge and network in the local market in the MICE, Corporate, Government, Social Wedding markets – especially in Southern India
- Excellent English Communication skills
