• B.Sc. in Safety Engineering/ B.A. or B.Sc. in Environmental Science or related field/ B.Tech or B.E. in Engineering/ Diploma in Industrial Safety
• Masters – M.Sc. in Safety or PGDM in Safety Management

Job Purpose

Ensures a safe work environment by enforcing safety protocols, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

Job Context & Major Challenges

In 2019 EMIL expanded its capabilities by acquiring Pro Minerals Private Limited through the Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP). This acquisition includes a 1 MTPA Iron Ore Beneficiation and Pelletization plant located in Keonjhar District Odisha. The plant utilizes advanced Circular Pelletizing Technology (CPT) of Primetals AG Austria and Iron Ore Beneficiation technology from Allmineral GmbH with Mechanized Raw Material Handling and Storage facilities. Some of the major challenges includes procurement of raw material at competitive price achieve competitive conversion costs in line with peers/ competitors through debottlenecking operations achieve and maintain peak rated capacity ensure safe operations develop industry benchmark practices etc.r the same.

• Road Safety Road movement is a high hazard activity and hence to make our road operations safe we are enforcing road safety related behavioral changes across our organisation.

KRA1 Safety strategy for achieving zero harm. A. Awareness should be developed among the workmen and employees.

B. Awareness developed about the ABG standards.

C. Preparation of SOP, SMP and HIRA of all activities and develop awareness.

D. Assist the line organization in developing proactive risk assessments and safe operating procedures for all tasks.

E. Inspection of critical equipment, Survey for Adherence to Permits, fall protection, Machine guarding, PPE uses, illumination, worker’s colony, canteen, road traffic.

F. Formulate and Conduct of Central/Apex Safety committee meeting.

G. Inspection and maintenance of Fire tender, Fire hydrant & fire pump house.

H. Develop and implement audit programs to review and assure compliance with applicable safety standards.

I. Implementation of Company OHS policy & Standards.

J. Manage the plant personal protective equipment according to company standards and operating budget.

K. Rectification of identified unsafe act and condition.

E. Audits, Trainings & Incident RCA Reporting.

KRA2 Maintain compliance of Factory rules.

Create, implement and Monitor Safety strategies to promote sustainable development. A. Monitoring and measurement of Safety Norms

B. Monitoring and data collection of accidents and near miss incidents.

C. Monitoring the accident and discuss with concern whenever required.

D. Follow up with abnormalities report and discussion with concern.

E. Monitoring unsafe activities.

F. Ensure stock of hazardous materials in safe conditions and PPE management.

KRA3 Conducting Safety audit at regular intervals. A. Organised Process Safety Management Audit in Every 2 years by external agency.

B. Internal safety Audit doing by internal cross functional Team in every month.

C. Carry out Fire Prevention audits on regular interval.

• Conducting safety and fire promotional activities in the unit.
• Collaborate with other management teams to achieve overall business objectives.
• Conducting Safety training for Permanent and Contractual workmen.
• Carry out Monthly Award & recognition among Employees & workmen.
• Encouraged employees to do at least a Safety Kaizen & One Point Lesson in a month so that we will implement the same as a promotional activity towards the best safety culture.
• Trainings for Emergency response Team by Third party/GOVT. Approved Authorized Trainer.

KRA4 Liaison with Govt. / External agencies in matter related to Safety like with Inspector of Factories. A. Engage with local communities and regulatory authorities to promote company policies and comply all legal requirements.

• Maintained record and keeping documents as per ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & OSHAS 45001.

KRA5 Conduction of mock drills as per On-Site Emergency Plan. A. Black out in Silent Hour mock drill.
