Technical Designer

FUNCTION OF THE JOB

  • As we continue to expand, our products continue to grow right along with us–in volume and complexity. That is why we are looking for a highly skilled, motivated, and passionate individual to join our talented Technical Design Team that is driven to achieve the best fit possible for our Exclusive Brands. As a Beall’s Inc. TECHNICAL DESIGNER, you will serve as the in-house expert for your designated brands. You will have ownership of the fit and construction of all styles in those brands from tech pack creation to the TOP sample. Because our Product Development Department is a multiple team network, you will also be instrumental in facilitating communication with Design, Sourcing, and overseas partners to ensure that all fit & construction details are clearly communicated.

Summary Of Duties And Responsibilties

  • Be the go-to expert for all fit and construction related issues within your designated brands.
  • Create technical specification packages using webPDM Gerber Technology with accurate construction and measurements for costing and sampling.
  • Navigate and manage styles within new PLM system as we grow and reshape our design processes.
  • Create, check, and edit patterns using Gerber pattern design to identify and correct fit issues, while maintaining a consistent fit within brands.
  • Measure, check construction and evaluate FIT, PP (Pre-Production) and TOP (Top of Production) samples.
  • Collaborate with Production and Design leadership to ensure styling intent and fit is being executed accurately.
  • Communicate all fit and construction changes clearly to internal partners and overseas suppliers.
  • Meet all TNA calendar requirements and work through agile methods to resolve any fit or construction issues that could affect the approved timelines.
  • Conduct in store visits to learn more about our guests and ensure quality garments are on the selling floor.
  • Research the market for sizing, quality, and construction techniques to conduct competitive fit analyses for your designated brands.
  • Manage your workload independently and pivot as the demands of the business change.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Fashion Design
  • Vast knowledge of garment construction and stitch types
  • Experience in pattern making, specifically using Gerber computerized pattern design.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working experience in Word, Excel, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, webPDM Gerber Technology, PLM software.
  • Must be detail orientated, a multi-tasker and have strong time management.
