$16.50 – 18.50 an hour, depending on experience.

Job Purpose Of Position

The HR Assistant provides administrative support to the Human Resources department on all personnel matters. This position requires excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to preserve and secure confidential employee information. A working knowledge of office processes and related computer software tools is essential.

Key Responsibilities And Essential Functions

  • Receives electronic copies of changes/adjustments, enters those changes/adjustments into all applicable systems and uploads the electronic copy to the employee’s online record, filing the original paperwork in the employee’s file.
  • Assists with the processing and recording of terminations, scanning documentation, and ensuring proper filing of original documentation and providing response to Paychex for Unemployment questionnaire.
  • Processes all applications for employment by verifying authorization to begin the prescreening process. Submits the online investigation request and provides employment eligibility determination to hiring manager/ supervisor.
  • Processes new hire information by verifying new hire checklist for all required items and entering the data into all applicable payroll systems and checking for accuracy.
  • Verifies I-9 documentation and maintains record keeping audit.
  • Completes verification of employment (VOE) requests.
  • Conducts audits of various payrolls, benefits or other HR programs and recommends any corrective action necessary.
  • Assists with various administrative and employment research matters.
  • Assists HR Department with various special projects.
  • Assists with preparations for orientations and meetings.
  • Assists with clerical functions as requested.
  • Assists or prepares correspondence.
  • Prepares new employee files.
  • Processes mail.
  • Perform Customer Service functions by answering client’s requests or questions.
  • Participate in job fairs to assist with recruitment for clients.
  • Assists team members and supervisors with basic interpretation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all team member records and information.
  • Contributes to the overall organization and development of the HR department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years previous experience in Human Resources and/or payroll administration, preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent communications and language skills, both oral and written.
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Exceptional organization, time management and problem-solving skills.
  • Requires a conscious awareness of the confidential nature of the work of the Human Resources Department
