The behavioral health manager is an integral role in Cayuga Health System’s Ambulatory Services division. This leader integrates patient experience, operational effectiveness, and system outcomes by managing the day-to-day operations of the Cayuga Integrated Behavioral Health program, currently embedded in six primary care locations and two specialty practices throughout CMA and a new Cayuga Health Psychology practice. The manager is responsible for provider engagement, financial viability, business development, and operational workflows. The manager will create a culture of growth through improved patient access, patient satisfaction, and supporting the continuum of care for a seamless patient experience.

Roles And Responsibilities

  • Participate as an active, forward-thinking member of the CMA manager team, providing leadership and direction in accordance with organizational goals and objectives. Serves as a resource to others as an extension of the leadership team.
  • Develop and maintain a fiscal plan for the program and practice, monitor patient revenues, and control operating expenses; proactively manage patient access and recommend opportunities for improvements therein.
  • Manage the hiring process and support onboarding for staff, behaviorists and providers in partnership with other CHS departments; manage provider schedules and templates, continuing medical education funds, timecards, and expenses.
  • Conduct Needs Assessments in collaboration with practice managers to prepare new sites for program readiness. Leads the implementation process for new sites, ensuring adherence to program guidelines and standards. Assists in developing comprehensive training plans for new site staff, covering clinical protocols, documentation procedures, and best practices in integrated behavioral health.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives and manages operational changes effectively.

Required Skills And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience in healthcare management with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role in a healthcare setting
  • Proven experience in budget management and financial reporting for healthcare practices
  • Strong leadership skills, ability to lead and motivate diverse teams of professionals
  • Experience with patient satisfaction initiatives and customer service strategies
  • Experience tracking, analyzing, and translating data and key performance indicators to inform business intelligence and decision-making

Preferred Skills And Experience

  • Advanced degree in healthcare administration or a related field
  • Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office

Location and Travel Requirements:


  • Onsite at 40 Catherwood Drive
  • Monday – Friday 8am-5pm

Compensation Disclosure

  • $93,641 to $130,000 per year
