PEI Brewing Co.

The PEI Brewing Co. (PEIBC) is a production brewery in Atlantic Canada focused on craft beer and ready-to-drink (RTD) cocktails including the iconic Gahan and Colliding Tides brands. Founded in 1997, our values are Quality, Teamwork, and Continuous Improvement, and we bring these values to everything we do. In addition to our primary production facility, PEIBC also runs five (5) microbreweries across Atlantic Canada that produce small-batch draught seasonals.

The Opportunity

The Financial Controller will oversee financial reporting, inventory management, and operational processes while collaborating with senior management to drive the company’s strategic goals. This role is essential in ensuring the accuracy of financial data, managing compliance, and supporting decision-making for the PEI Brewing Company, Beerstores, and Gahan Brewpubs.

As Financial Controller, You Will

Financial Reporting & Reconciliation

  • Prepare and distribute weekly and monthly sales reports to stakeholders
  • Oversee the preparation and accuracy of financial statements for PEIBC, Beerstores, and Gahan Brewpubs
  • Report and manage excise duties, including submission and payment to CRA
  • Reconcile accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger data
  • Review COGS and advertising accruals monthly, ensuring accurate financial reporting

Inventory and Production Management

  • Manage inventory counts and ensure data integrity between systems such as Ekos and spreadsheets
  • Enter packaged product and production batch data while maintaining waste tracking records
  • Collaborate with production and warehouse teams to investigate discrepancies and improve processes
  • Oversee the transfer of inventory between PEIBC and Gahan Brewpubs

Operational Administration

  • Administer Ekos software to ensure accurate and reliable information for decision-making
  • Manage PO systems, matching invoices to received goods and verifying pricing/quantity
  • Supervise payroll processes, reviewing labor reports, and ensuring timely adjustments
  • Maintain systems for petty cash, employee access, and operational security

Strategic Collaboration

  • Work closely with senior management to develop and manage yearly budgets
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to allocate advertising expenses and track ROI
  • Partner with operations teams to refine production processes and improve efficiencies

  • Ability to clearly set priorities and zero in on what is critical
  • Flexible, and able to think quickly and maintain a positive attitude and work ethic under pressure
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal savvy with ability to build strong relationships with clients, team members, managers, and industry partners

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • CPA designation preferred and considered an asset
  • 5+ years of experience in financial management, operations, or a similar role
  • Strong understanding of financial systems, reporting, and inventory management
  • Experience with ERP systems (Ekos preferred) and advanced proficiency in Excel
