Position Overview
The Conversion Porter is responsible for the setup, servicing, break down and assisting other operations as assigned of all events in accordance with Grey Eagle Resort and Casino standards of quality. The Porter ensures all venues are well-maintained, cleaned and secured; makes any adjustments and/or repairs of the equipment’s, assets, structure for safe operation. The Porter also assists with inventory control of catering equipment and furniture.
Education And Experience
- Set up all event rooms as per specification of the event order and floor plan.
- Break down, clean and service all event rooms/areas where events have concluded and return items to storage area so the room will be available to reset for the next function.
- Catering, AV or other equipment set up/ break down/ maintenance as needed.
- Communicates with supervisor verbally and through written communication throughout the shift to for any guest requests, health and safety issues, equipment breakdown issues and other notifications and follow through of assigned tasks.
- Supplies and replenishes event rooms in a prompt and courteous manner.
- Maintains established cleaning schedule of event rooms so rooms always stay presentable
- Safely drive and maintain vehicles available for transporting event materials for offsite events.
- Assist with inventory control of all event center equipment and furniture’s, securing all event areas at the end of the event.
- Always ensure a clean and organized storage areas. Report safety issues promptly to supervisor.
- Remain up-to-date and familiar with procedures, activities at Grey Eagle Resort and Casino, current events, directions, and other information on the local area in order to provide accurate information at the guest request
- Ability to assist other Food and Beverage service team members when assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Prior porter experience would be an asset
- Ability to understand various types of equipment and set up styles for events, including basic knowledge of service standards, guest relations and etiquette.
- Ability to understand and follow directions as per the event order and floor plan for set ups.
- Basic knowledge of AV and electrical equipment set up processes would be an asset.
- Work in accordance to set health and safety standards.
- Strong organizational skills, time management skills.
- Ability to work in outdoor areas for off site events.
- Ability to perform under pressure during busy days effectively for extensive periods of time while maintaining professionalism.
- Can work on own as well as part of a team
- Performs work well with accuracy, speed and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow directions thoroughly.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Adept at understanding guest’s service needs
- Clear thinker who can remain calm and resolve problems using good judgment.
- Ability to operate all necessary equipment such as moving carts, cargo truck, etc.
- Willingness to maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance in accordance with grooming standards
- Valid and clean drivers’ licence is an asset.
- Valid AGLC Proserve is an asset
