General Description
The CT Tech/Radiology Tech is responsible for performing radiology and CT procedures and diagnostic evaluations of patients. S/he provides clinical instruction to students, follows pain management protocols, and maintains adequate records and supplies.
Essential Functions
- Performs CT and Radiology procedures and diagnostic evaluations of patient, which include a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed exposure parameters for CT or Radiology procedures according to patient age, mental, and physical status.
- Assesses patient needs relevant to CT or Radiology procedures.
- Stocks rooms with adequate supplies and maintains an orderly working area.
- Maintains adequate records as directed to ensure safety, proper care of patients, and diagnostic quality of CT or Radiology examinations. Maintains records and performs Quality Assurance/ Quality Control checks as needed.
- Consistently uses radiation protection measures such as time, collimation, and shielding.
- Follows hospital policy regarding pain management and use of restraints for patients.
- Demonstrates working knowledge of the PACS and MediTech systems.
- Provides clinical instruction to students, and precepts new techs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education & Training requirements
- Current ARRT certification (R) one year work experience in CT preferred, but not required.
- Current NM State license
- AHA BLS certification within 3 months of hire
