Job Overview
This is a newly established branch, and the selected candidate must be prepared for the challenges and responsibilities associated with setting up and stabilizing operations. The Johannesburg Branch Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the branch’s daily operations, ensuring full alignment with company policies, processes, and financial controls. This role requires a strong leader with a structured, compliance-driven mindset, capable of enforcing policies while driving performance and efficiency. The ideal candidate must be able to work within a defined chain of command, maintain operational discipline, and ensure the seamless execution of business strategy in the Johannesburg branch.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Management & Compliance
- Ensure that all company policies, systems, and processes are adhered to at the Johannesburg branch.
- Oversee sales, stock management, and administrative operations, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
- Enforce strict financial controls, including invoice approvals, purchase orders, and stock transfers.
- Conduct random audits to ensure compliance with company policies.
- Ensure that weekly reports are submitted every Monday and virtual meetings are attended every Tuesday.
- Leadership & Team Management
- Directly supervise and manage all Johannesburg branch staff.
- Implement and maintain accountability, discipline, and professionalism.
- Provide training and onboarding for new employees to ensure smooth integration into company processes.
- Financial, Administrative & Sales Oversight
- The Johannesburg Branch Manager will be primarily responsible for all administrative and shop management duties and will be supported by sales staff.
- Must have basic sales experience to attend to in-store customers when necessary.
- Authorize invoices, purchase orders, and bills up to R50,000.
- Escalate any approvals above R50,000 for senior management approval.
- Ensure that stock purchasing, financial transactions, and bookkeeping are strictly controlled and managed.
- Reporting & Performance Monitoring
- Submit weekly reports on:
- Sales performance
- Stock movement & inventory status
- Operational challenges & compliance issues
- Attend weekly virtual meetings every Tuesday with senior management.
- Facilitate monthly in-person visits from a senior representative.
- Risk Management & Process Enforcement
- Enforce strict adherence to company processes with no exceptions.
- Implement structured workflows for all documentation processing.
- Ensure no unauthorized financial transactions occur at the branch.
- Manage risk by actively addressing non-compliance or performance issues.
Key Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years experience in a management role, preferably in retail, distribution, or corporate sales.
- Sales experience & customer support experience is highly advantageous.
- Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to enforce company policies and processes and motivate team members.
- Experience in financial oversight and administrative management.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
- Must be highly organized, disciplined, and process-driven.
- Experience with inventory management, bookkeeping, and compliance auditing is a plus.
- Familiarity with CRM, inventory, and accounting systems is advantageous.
Work Schedule
- The Johannesburg Branch Manager will work 6 days a week, with half-day Saturdays.
Employment Type
- Full-time, permanent role with a 3-month probationary period.
- Based in Johannesburg with occasional travel for training and strategic meetings.
