Job Description
The Linux/Windows Administrator is responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems and servers in ACDHS Hybrid Environment. This role responsibilities include ensuring Linux and Windows system efficiency, implementing updates, and safeguarding data integrity. Tasks often involve network configuration, software installation, and system security checks.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Manage, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux servers within a predominantly Windows- based environment.
- Perform system administration tasks for both Linux and Windows servers, including installation, configuration, and patch management.
- Monitor server performance, ensure system availability, and maintain high system reliability.
- Implement security measures and ensure compliance with ACDHS policies and industry standards.
- Assist with the integration of Linux and Windows systems, ensuring seamless operation and communication between platforms.
- Provide technical support and guidance to other team members on Linux-related issues.
- Collaborate with other IT staff to develop and implement IT solutions that meet business needs.
- Create and maintain documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Contribute to cross-functional initiatives and support evolving organizational needs as required.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Proficiency in both Linux and Windows operating systems, including command-line interfaces and system administration tools.
- Experience with virtualization technologies.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and security best practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Job Location
This is an onsite, office position based at the Allegheny County Department of Human Services in downtown Pittsburgh, PA.
Education And Experience Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in system administration, with a strong focus on Linux.
Preferred
- Relevant certifications (e.g., RHCSA, RHCE, MCSA, MCSE).
