Job Description

About Global Press

Global Press trains and employs local women reporters to cover the world’s most pressing topics from places where the issues are acute, underreported and connected to wider global trends. Our investigative and explanatory journalism serves an audience of local and international changemakers. Since 2006, Global Press has trained hundreds of women journalists, produced more than 10,000 stories and won more than four dozen awards. Our work has been credited with transforming global narratives and changing policy in multiple countries.

About The Role

The Senior Editor will work across our three primary topic areas — civil liberties, global health and environment. Leading a small team of editors, the senior editor will coach our team of local women journalists across the world to craft exceptional stories. From evaluating story pitches to bringing news content to life through our rigorous editorial process, the senior editor will work on a range of story types, from short news pieces to long-form features and investigations. The senior editor understands the demands of reporting for both hyperlocal and international audiences and enthusiastically collaborates across the newsroom and product teams to ensure stories are accurate and engaging. Reporting to the Editor-in-Chief, the senior editor will serve in a key leadership role in our unique global newsroom.

This is a 100% remote role. Candidates are required to be based in the U.S. to be considered for the role.
