Job Description

Our tomatoes are grown year round in one of Australia’s largest and most advanced glasshouse facilities, located in Guyra, NSW. Our state-of-the-art glasshouse technology puts Costa Tomatoes at the forefront of innovation in ecologically sustainable practices and sets us apart in the fruit and vegetable industry.

About The Roles

We are looking for up to 400 enthusiastic people who are interested in working in a variety of roles available in our glasshouse operations located in the heart of the beautiful NSW Northern Tablelands.

These are casual entry level positions, with work available all year across multiple departments. Job roles and tasks include:

Crop Work

These Roles Involve:

Caring for our tomato plants (leafing, pollinating, twisting, lowering)

Working in large Glasshouses with high humidity and warm temperatures (up to 30 degrees)

Standing or walking for 8 hours per shift, with breaks

Repetitive low muscle load movement of hands, wrists, arms, elbows, shoulder, neck

Working at heights (depending on )

Shifts are mostly rostered Monday to Friday

Picking

These Roles Involve:

Picking our tomatoes

Working in large Glasshouses with high humidity and warm temperatures (up to 30 degrees)

Standing or walking for 9.5 hours per shift, with breaks

Repetitive low muscle load movement of hands, wrists, arms, elbows, shoulder, neck

Working at heights (occasionally)

Shifts are mostly rostered Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday

Packing

These Roles Involve:

Packing our tomatoes

Working in a large indoor packing facility which may be cooled to 12 degrees

Standing for 9.5 hours per shift, with breaks

Repetitive low muscle load movement of hands, wrists, arms, elbows, shoulder, neck

Shifts are mostly rostered Monday – Saturday

Nursery Hand

These Roles Involve:

Planting seeds and grafting tomato plants

Caring for our young tomato plants (crop work)

Working in large Glasshouses with high humidity and warm temperatures (up to 30 degrees)

Some tasks require standing or walking for 8 hours per shift, with breaks

Repetitive low muscle load movement of hands, wrists, arms, elbows, shoulder, neck

These may be worked any day of the week.

Other Roles

A variety of other skilled roles are also available all year round, including:

Maintenance / Trade (including welding, irrigation) (Level 2, Level 3, Level 4)

Quality Control / Quality Assurance (Level 2 and Level 3)

Administration (Level 2 and Level 3)

Cleaning (Level 2 and Level 3)

Agronomy/Technical role (Level 2 and Level 3)

Forklift / Machine Operators/Team leaders (Level 2 and Level 3)

You can select from these roles in the application form. Pay rates are in accordance with the Costa Tomato EBA 2023.

These roles are classified and paid in accordance with the Costa Tomato Enterprise Agreement 2023 and depend on your skills and experience.

Crop, Pick, Pack roles commence at Level 1 casual rate: $29.76 per hour, Level 2 $30.79, Level 3 $35.80.

About You

Successful candidates must:

Have access to reliable to and from the work site

Be available to work for at least 6 months for at least 30hrs per week (on average)

Be willing and able to work overtime when required

Be physically fit with the ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time

Be able to work in a warm and humid environment (crop and picking roles)

Work cooperatively and respectfully in a multicultural workforce

Have a commitment to Occupational Health and Safety, Food Safety, Quality and Personal Hygiene
