Job Description
This position is for a full-time Research Assistant in the Coronavirus Lab led by Assistant Professor Mart Lamers in EID. Our team uses cutting-edge technology (e.g. organoids, CRISPR/Cas9, and single cell omics) to understand coronavirus-host interactions relevant to pandemic potential and pathogenesis.
The Laboratory Of Assistant Professor Mart Lamers Is Looking For a Research Assistant To Further Develop Nose Organoid Models For Application In The Fields Of Vaccinology And Gene Therapy. The Selected Candidate Will Perform a Variety Of Research Activities Which Include Planning, Organising And Conducting Research Studies Within The Overall Scope Of a Research Project Under The Supervision Of The Principal Investigator Or His/her Designate, Including But Not Limited To The Following
- Perform tasks and support the team in scientific projects.
- Plan and perform the experiments, and discuss data with project team.
- Conduct accurate monitoring, documenting and reporting of experimental results and/or research findings.
- Process and store clinical samples and keep a good inventory of samples required for the projects.
- Perform other duties required to support the organisation of the laboratory, including but not limited to purchasing, stock-taking, inventory and compliance with safety and ethical regulations.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Life Sciences, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, Materials Engineering or other related fields.
- Demonstrated basic knowledge, skills and technical expertise in supporting various biological research activities, such as cell culture, biochemistry, and molecular biology research.
- Equipped with basic routine laboratory skills, including biological safety. Experience with culturing organoids is preferred but not necessary.
- Possess interpersonal communications skills with excellent written, oral communication and computer skills.
- A strong team player who is open-minded, independent, highly motivated and can work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team and diverse workforce.
