The University of Iowa Department of Athletics seeks applications for an Assistant Soccer Coach. This is a full-time (at-will and FLSA-exempt) position which includes full University benefits. Responsibilities: The Assistant Coach is responsible for providing administrative, instructional and coaching assistance to the Head Coach with the purpose of building a successful, competitive intercollegiate sports program that also retains and graduates student-athletes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) required
  • Minimum 3 years of successful soccer coaching experience at the NCAA Division I or Championship level
  • Extensive experience effectively developing and training field players at the collegiate or professional level
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, as demonstrated through public speaking, clinician experience, and/or use of effective and creative training/coaching techniques.
  • Professional experience working effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trusting relationships;
  • Working knowledge of and ability to:
    • Utilize basic office support software (word processing, email, presentation software and spreadsheets)
    • Operate effectively within a highly regulated team environment.
  • A valid U.S. driving license and the ability to meet and maintain The University of Iowa Fleet Safety Program driving standards

Desired Qualifications

  • Playing experience at the NCAA Division I or Championship level in the sport of soccer in college
  • Demonstrated experience in domestic talent assessment and proven ability to successfully recruit elite-level student-athletes.
  • Experience developing leadership and/or mentorship programs for student-athletes
  • Demonstrated working proficiency and ability to:
    • Utilize a video analysis system like Sports Code/ HUDL/Spiideo (please specify)
    • Plan and administer a recruiting calendar
    • Develop and manage camp curriculum and administration; assist with coaching and instruction at camps and clinics
    • Working knowledge of sports performance data analysis
  • Genuine passion for and experience with supporting the holistic development of student-athletes, recognizing the interconnectedness of mental health and overall well-being.
