We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of experience in procurement, with a preference for those who have worked in a manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for managing vendor relationships, ensuring timely procurement of materials, and maintaining cost-effective purchasing strategies to support production and operational needs.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to obtain the best pricing, quality, and terms.
- Establish, develop, and maintain strong vendor relationships to ensure reliable supply chain operations.
- Manage purchase orders from creation to delivery, ensuring timely receipt of materials and services.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with internal departments to fulfill purchasing requirements.
- Track vendor performance, resolve any supply issues, and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align purchasing strategies with business goals.
- Analyze purchasing data, identify cost-saving opportunities, and support continuous improvement initiatives while improving or maintaining margins and deadlines.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations in all procurement activities.
Requirements
- Strong sense of urgency, and flexibility with changing demands in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Ability to analyze data and make strategic purchasing decisions.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize and adjust based on business or client needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Sage Intacct, Expensify, and Salesforce is preferred
- Experience in raw materials, components, or commercial/building supplies purchasing.
- Familiarity with supply chain management principles and lean manufacturing practices.
Education And Experience
- 1-3 years of commercial or wholesale purchasing/procurement experience.
- Associates degree preferred.
