Forward Global is searching for a Government Affairs Associate. This role will focus on exceptional client service, day-to-day execution of client priorities, and support firm-wide business development. They will have experience in a wide range of client management roles, including business and persuasive writing, policy research, and reporting. Your job will be somewhat amorphous as we scale – and you’ll have the opportunity to take on additional and significant responsibilities as we grow, with access to major decision-makers in media, policy, and Corporate America.

A successful Government Affairs Associate will be a highly motivated, dynamic, self-starter who thrives on autonomy. This is a fully in-person position in our Georgetown office, in Washington, DC.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support execution of day-to-day advancement of multiple client priorities through internal and external engagement with client, local/state/federal government, third party organizations, and officials, as directed
  • Support outreach and relationship building with key government stakeholders to achieve client goals and advance policy priorities
  • Supports monitoring and reporting of program status, deliverables, and opportunity development with direct oversight
  • Conducts research and outreach in support of relationship development with relevant individuals and organizations to support achievement of client’s public policy goals
  • Maintain a calendar and logistics for multiple clients

Ideal Candidate

  • 0 – 2 years’ experience in a congressional office or government affairs firm setting
  • Professional experience working on Capitol Hill, a similar government affairs consultancy, or relevant organization preferred
  • Knowledge of the legislative process, with emphasis on the appropriations process, and working through relationships with government offices to achieve policy wins
  • Ability to master complex issues and simplify them to support education of policymakers and staff
  • Experience supporting financial services, trade, health care, or technology policy preferred
  • Skilled in producing a variety of written documents, including memos, briefings, presentations, legislative text, and others
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to juggle multiple priorities and prioritize accordingly
  • Works independently but collaboratively
  • Ability to work under pressure with competing priorities
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%
