Financial Controller – South Dublin – SME

Job Description

Our client is an exciting SME in South Dublin in the security sector currently seeking a Financial Controller reporting to the CFO.

Circa 10M turnover this growing dynamic company wants an FC with relevant PQE to manage a small team or 4/5 junior staff and own the finance function on a monthly basis while raising the quality of reporting and enhancing the use of existing systems. The funtion is in excellent shape but with plenty of scope for an energetic and ambitious FC to bring it to the next level as the company grows and expands market share in Ireland. Family owned business.

You will help to build the team further and have strong commercial acumen and proven communication skills.

The role of the Financial Controller (FC) is to manage the finance function of the group on a daily basis and help drive strategic decision making in the business through the use of financial information. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

The FC will be “hands on” and will provide timely and accurate information to the CFO and work closely with him in order to assist in key decision making. The individual will also work collaboratively with the wider organisation.

Key areas of responsibility

Reporting

  • Preparation of month end financial reporting pack for review within agreed timelines
  • Prepare various monthly reporting reconciliations and journals as required
  • Weekly cashflow reporting
  • Regular financial snapshot reporting to management
  • Board Pack preparation (usually 5 to 6 times per annum)
  • Run the annual external audit process and ensure timely sign off of financial statements

Working Capital Management Including

  • Ensure Debtors Days and Creditors Days stay within budget
  • Implement new inventory management system with relevant managers
  • Manage creditor payment runs
  • Ensure all billing is completed shortly after of completion of works
  • Oversight of annual price change process

Budgeting / Forecasting

  • Preparation of company budgets
  • Financial modelling including scenario analysis
  • Forecasting

Process Improvement

  • Review day to day operation of finance function and seek to eliminate inefficiencies
  • Expand knowledge of group CRM and Finance systems to further integrate and automate financial processes as far as possible
  • Review and update financial policies and procedures and develop new ones as necessary

Other

  • Management and development of finance team
  • Assist with internal training on financial procedures as needed
  • Administration of accounting system
  • Carry out other duties as may reasonably be required

Essential Criteria

  • Professional accounting qualification
  • Minimum 5 years post qualification experience
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines
  • Ability to work on own initiative
