Purpose of Job

Performs labouring activities associated with providing support to logistical requirements with the preparation of equipment for loading and unloading of products and chemicals with general housekeeping activities.

Key Accountabilities

  • Safety
    • Correct identification and use of PPE
    • Participate in emergency preparedness exercise
    • Perform routine inspection on safety equipment and ensure maintenance where applicable
    • Conduct BAPP (Behavioural based Safety Observation) observations where applicable
    • Adhere to all safety and work standards
    • Conduct Integrated Management Safety System (IMS) inspections.

Housekeeping

    • Cleaning of plant areas, benches, floors, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), glassware, etc., according to direct instruction
    • Cleaning of plant areas, benches, floors, PPE etc., according to planned routine
    • Packing materials in storage areas according to direct instruction
    • Safe handling, stacking and storage of chemicals/dangerous materials (where applicable)
    • Disposal of waste from laboratories and plant environment.
    • Safe handling, storage and transportation of gas cylinders (where applicable)
    • Packing materials in storage areas according to planned routine
    • Loading and offloading of vehicles
    • Ensure general neatness of area of responsibility
    • Perform tasks under direct supervision
    • Perform tasks as planned

General

    • Assist dedicated person in performing discipline specific tasks.
    • Perform discipline specific activities according to instruction
    • Deliver messages and parcels where applicable
    • Work overtime as and when required
    • Safe and correct use of hand tools and equipment
    • Safe handling of process chemicals and glassware where applicable
    • Ad hoc related tasks on request of more senior personnel.

Formal Education

Grade 12 with Maths, Science.

Code C1 driving licence.

Forklift driving licence will be an advantage
