Position

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Supplies and Distribution Manager based at Ayrshire Central Hospital.

What You Will Do

An exciting opportunity has arisen within NHS Ayrshire and Arran’s Procurement Department for a permanent, full-time, Supplies and Distribution Manager. The base for this role is at Ayrshire Central Hospital, Irvine but there may be a requirement to work out of one of the other hospital sites.

The Supplies & Distribution Team within the Procurement Department provide a Procurement service to all NHS Ayrshire and Arran wards/departments/clinics ensuring that stock products are ordered and delivered according to local delivery schedules.

You will provide an effective management of 12 staff and the supplies service for stock products to allocated wards. Customer service is a large part of this role, ensuring all customers have supplies in the right quantity, quality, place and time, to support clinical services and to resolve complaints timeously.

Knowledge, Training And/or Experience Required To Do The Job

  • Minimum of 8 years broad and deep experience at management level in the field of Purchasing and Supplies management within a large scale, complex, multi-discipline environment, preferably but not essentially in the Health Service.
  • Minimum of 8 years proven track record in delivery of change management and strategic procurement..
  • Knowledge of Supplies/Stores/Purchasing operations.
  • Negotiation skills.
  • IT literate (office, email).
  • Educated to degree or equivalent level.
  • SVQ 4 / CIPS Diploma.
  • Effective communications and inter-personal skill.
  • Motivating and leading staff to ensure customer receive the benefit of a modernised approach to supply chain management.
  • Proven ability to develop the most effective processes and systems to ensure goods are available and delivered to meet end users requirements.
  • Ability to function well under pressure.
  • Be able to work well as member of team.
  • Enthusiasm and willingness to learn and develop.
