JOB SUMMARY

The Deputy Manager in the Social Policy Research section serves as the core personnel responsible for conducting in-depth research and analysis on social policy issues. This role focuses on delivering high-quality research publications, including reports and advocacy materials, while actively contributing to the organisation’s strategic goals. Key responsibilities include undertaking comprehensive studies, providing policy insights, and supporting stakeholder engagements to advance EPF research priorities. The position emphasises professional expertise in research and analysis, ensuring the organisation remains at the forefront of evidence-based policy development. Proficiency in big data analytics, including skills related to managing databases, data analysis and visualization, utilizing advanced analytical tools, and translating findings into comprehensible writing, is required.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive and coordinate the development and successful execution of EPF’s research agenda, focusing on the diverse spectrum of social well-being, particularly in domains related to the SHINE-M framework (Shelter, Housing, Income, Nutrition, Education, Mobility).
  • The individual is expected to be able to work independently in conducting in-depth data analysis and research while collaborating with other team members to translate findings into clear, impactful reports and advocacy materials.
  • Develop a survey design and leverage big data analytics and advanced analytical tools to enhance research outcomes.
  • Assist in the publication of research findings and drafting of communication materials, such as articles, briefings, and updates, to engage internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate research activities, track progress, and ensure timely delivery of research products.
  • Oversee the allocation and utilisation of research-related budgets and resources to ensure efficient operations.
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagements and coordinate meetings to ensure alignment with research objectives.
  • Candidates with advanced data analytics skills, robust statistical knowledge, and a strong foundation in data-driven methodologies are encouraged to apply.
  • Assist in the execution of events and programs organized by the Department to ensure their smooth operation, including managing interactions with relevant vendors and speakers.
  • Assist in ad-hoc requests as and when required bythe Head Of Department or Head Of Section or other delegated tasks within the department.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Malaysian citizen
  • Possess a Bachelor Degree or Bachelor Degree (Honours) in Economics, Social Science, Public Policy, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Sceince, Data Science & and Analytics, Sociology, Law, or equivalent qualifications recognised by the Government from any local or overseas higher learning institutions; Masters/ PhD qualification is an added advantage
  • Minimum 7 years of professional experience in research and public policy
  • Advanced proficiency in research and data analysis, including experience with big data analytics, data visualisation, and database management
  • Excellent in writing, presentation and communication
  • Good analytical skills specifically in analysing quantitative and qualitative ecconomic and social indicators and data
  • Strong organisational and project management skills
  • Proficient in computer software and statistical packages, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, Tableau, E-Views, and Stata
  • Ability to multitask and perform under pressure in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
