Generalist Designer

We currently have studio locations in Irvine, California; Austin, Texas; and Auckland, New Zealand.

This is a full-time hybrid position based in Austin, TX or Irvine, CA, with an onsite requirement of three days per week.

The salary range being considered for this role is $70,000-$100,000. The specified salary range pertains to Southern California, and the actual amounts may differ based on experience, performance, and location. These salary ranges do not apply to locations outside the United States.

GENERALIST DESIGNERS AT BSG…

The ideal candidate for this role is self-driven?and can translate a thorough understanding of a wide range of design responsibilities. They feel just as comfortable doing encounters and level design, as they are scripting and crafting complex game systems.

Role and Responsibilities

This is a full-time position available to work based out of BSE’s Austin, TX or Irvine, CA studio.

Responsibilities

  • Help implement a wide range of compelling in-game content and systems
  • Determine problem areas impacting combat systems, monetization, technical design?and craft swift, creative solutions?
  • Create, block-out, script and markup levels
  • Work with and take guidance from Leads and Seniors to drive design-centric features from concept to completion?
  • Standardize, document and advocate for high-quality design fundamentals, continuously improving the workflow process as it relates to the game’s interactive elements such as game systems, controls, and interfaces?
  • Participate in and contribute to cross-discipline discussions related to the development and implementation of tools and required game systems adjustments and required game systems adjustments

Qualifications And Education Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in the game industry or related area?
  • A portfolio demonstrating game design experience
  • Good analytical skills, curious and enthusiastic

Preferred Skills

  • Expertise in Unreal 5 or proprietary game engines
  • Strong technical abilities / skillset
  • Experience in open world games and systems

PLUSES

  • Shipped a triple AAA Game
  • FPS action experience
  • Current on gaming trends, best practices and latest technologies
