As an Insurance Underwriting Assistant, you will be an integral part of our team, responsible for fostering strong customer relations while supporting the underwriting process. Key Responsibilities
- Cultivate positive customer relations through proactive communication with brokers and clients.
- Address inquiries and service issues from internal and external customers via phone and email.
- Execute new business rating and file preparation efficiently.
- Facilitate effective communication regarding new business processes to agents, components, and policyholders.
- Verify and produce essential information for file documentation.
- Collaborate directly with underwriters to secure necessary approvals.
- Process and issue requests for policy changes.
- Approve or decline limit changes across various lines of coverage.
- Compile information required for discount requests.
- Handle requests for coverage and claims history.
- Manage appeals for reinstatements and non-payment cancellations.
- Review and process Renewal Questionnaires.
- Reconcile active policies and prepare for non-renewal.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical skills complemented by meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficient in using computer applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication abilities.
- Capable of prioritizing workload efficiently and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- At least one year of experience in the insurance sector or an underwriting department.
- A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Possession of a Property and Casualty License is preferred or the willingness to obtain one.

- Non-Exempt salary range: \(52,000 – \)60,000 annually.
