Job Description
Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead and manage a small team of Financial Aid Counselors and Advisors in a contact center, handling staffing, training, performance, and team morale.
- Act as the point of contact for assigned colleges, attending bi-weekly admissions meetings and creating department reports.
- Serves as an escalation point for student financial aid needs and processes.
- Stay updated on federal and state financial aid rules, participate in policy adjustments, and ensure compliance.
- Hold weekly one-on-one meetings with staff to discuss performance, campus updates, and address concerns.
- Assist with staffing by conducting interviews and onboarding new team members.
- Manage scholarships and grants processing, including maintaining schedules and reports for accurate award distribution.
- Take accountability of any additional tasks or special projects assigned by Financial Aid Leadership.
Position Requirements:
Knowledge and Skillset:
- Proficiency in Excel and MS Word, with familiarity in financial aid software.
- Strong understanding of Title IV and financial regulations.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Critical thinking, and problem-solving skills are important.
- Efficient time management in a fast-paced setting.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in financial aid as an Advisor/Counselor.
- At least 2 years’ experience in a centralized financial aid office.
- Prior management experience preferred but not required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior management experience preferred but not required.
Working Conditions:
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when necessary.
- May require domestic travel up to 20%.
Compensation & Benefits
This opportunity is budgeted at $63,000 – 68,000 base compensation. Additional compensation factors may impact total compensation.
