Position Summary
MPLX is seeking a Project Manager. This position’s main role is to support all aspects of the assigned projects including project scope, estimate, schedule, engineering design, equipment and material selection, project bidding, contractor selection. This position supports multiple capital and expense projects simultaneously within a managed budget and execution schedule.
Execute projects by applying the Project Management stage gate Process (MPMP). These projects involve a wide variety of process units and facilities and are implemented to achieve strategic objectives including improving operational efficiency, increasing reliability, margin enhancement and growth opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply project management and engineering skills in all phases of projects from conception to closeout.
- Manage multiple projects and assignments in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.
- Interface with technical Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and other IRD departments including Tech Service, Operations, Maintenance and Construction in support of project development and execution.
- Lead the project engineering effort including coordination of Engineering Contractors ensuring timely, cost effective and quality-controlled completion of all phase deliverables.
- Collaborate with the Engineering Contractor and Project Controls group in development of a project milestone schedule and overall cost; verify project cost/schedule are forecasted and tracked accurately throughout the project.
- Coordinate the procurement of engineering services and equipment to meet the goals of the project and ensure all requirements are met.
- Review engineering drawings for compliance with MPLX core specifications and standards.
- Conduct field walk downs and participate in constructability reviews.
- Work with construction representatives to define construction work packages.
- Lead Management of Change (MOC) requirements for assigned projects to ensure safety, operability, and maintainability in design.
- Provide technical support during construction including timely resolution of construction Requests for Information (RFI’s).
- Support operations and maintenance during commissioning and startup.
- Travel would be expected up to 50%
Education And Experience
Minimum (Required) Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline from an accredited institution is required.
- Five plus years post-degree experience in a Project Management or Engineering role is required.
- A valid driver’s license is required.?
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future.??
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience on a major project as either the project manager or project engineer preferred.
- Five plus years post-degree experience in a Project Management or Engineering role preferred.
- Previous experience in the gas processing plants petrochemical industry preferred.
