Responsibilities

As a Medical Librarian, you will provide support and assistance to all seeking health information and documentation.

• Provide assistance in computer searches, inter-library loans, cataloging, circulation, reference, acquisitions, and system development and maintenance.
• Provide reference, research, and document delivery services to support information needs of patrons.
• Provide technical and operational support for electronic resources.
• Plan and propose goals and objectives for the future of Library Information Services including resource acquisition.
• Offer library instruction and education programs for library patrons.
• Administer and maintain library collection including books, journals, reports and bibliographic tools to ensure an adequate and up-to-date collection that meets the educational and research-related needs of students and college personnel within an authorized budget.
• Interact with Library staff to develop and manage additional resources.
• May provide leadership and direction to library volunteers.

Requirements

Education:

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate’s degree/Bachelor’s degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Additional Preferences

Education

• Master’s degree in Library Science is highly desired

Work Experience

• Experience providing medical library services within hospitals, clinics and/or professional offices preferred.
• 3-5 years experience working in a Medical Hospital Library strong preferred.
• 3-5 years experience with Health Science Research and Literature searches strongly preferred.
