Job Description
Duties will include coordinating the rollout of STEM curriculum for middle school-aged youth through the pilot and demonstration phases. The research assistant will help with outreach and recruitment, coordinate educator training, work with youth programs using the curricula, and work as part of a team to market and widely disseminate the curriculum units. Initially, the Research Assistant will be responsible for coordinating two curricula, but these assignments are likely to change over time.
The Research Assistant reports directly to the Editorial Director.
Duties Of The Research Assistant Are As Follows
- Assist in outreach and recruitment of youth programs to pilot curricula
- Select sites for curriculum implementation.
- Prepare slides for and run initial meetings for new site partners.
- Ensure that all materials, assessments, books etc. are available when needed.
- Act as liaison with all program sites that are implementing one of the curricula to ensure that they attend training, run the program as expected, administer and turn in the expected assessments, and provide any relevant feedback to internal team.
- Maintain records of sites meeting benchmarks for the steps above, and quickly inform the manager of any problems.
- Maintain frequent communication with other organizational teams to provide whatever they need to carry out their own duties.
- Maintain a schedule for workflow in connection with the curricula.
- Act as part of curriculum and implementation committees.
- Assist with presentations of the curricula to outside markets such as the National Summer Leadership Association, Imagine Science, or others.
- Contribute to written materials, including website, marketing materials, and publications.
Skills And Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years research assistant experience and/or project management and coordination
- Excellent computer skills and facility using programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google apps (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides), and SmartSheet project management software.
- Excellent planning, coordinating, and organizational skills a must
- Flexibility and positivity essential
- Strong writing ability
- Strong and respectful communication skills
- A background and skills in curriculum creation and K-12 education is a plus
- A background in science or engineering is a plus but not required
This position will primarily be remote, though occasional in-person meetings (Boston area). Salary is $50,000 to $60,000 based on skills and experience, with benefits including healthcare, paid time off, and retirement.
