What You’ll Do

We are looking for a highly organized analytical team leader with a working knowledge of employee benefits as they pertain to Summary of Benefits and Coverage (SBC’s). The Supervisor, Compliance Benefit Summary Specialist Team is responsible for the day-to-day oversight, training and management of the Summary of Benefits and Coverage Specialists (the “SBC Team”). Along with these duties, the Supervisor will participate in the production of SBCs, including for high-profile clients or escalated requests. The Supervisor is also responsible for managing, updating and maintaining the SBC templates and calculators.

In This Role, You’ll Also

  • Train the SBC Team on drafting, distributing and tracking SBCs for new clients upon implementation and updating renewal SBC’s for existing clients.
  • Provide day-to-day supervision and management of the SBC Team including but not limited to:
  • Review of deliverables, what is on task and what is at risk of being late with a plan of action.
  • Manage work time and caseload efficiently for the SBC Team with weekly meetings to ensure deliverables are met.
  • Assist and review all PTO requests for the SBC Team to ensure departmental needs are continually met.
  • Assign workloads to SBC Team as needed and work with General Counsel or Director level supervisor on case load rebalancing changes.
  • Act as the primary reviewer of SBC Team drafted SBCs to help ensure accuracy.
  • Manage, update and maintain SBC templates and calculators (SBC Calculator used to estimate out-of-pocket expenditures for SBC coverage examples and the MV Calculator used to determine a Plan’s Minimum Value) as well as the SBC Manual, and assist SBC Team with maintenance of corresponding spreadsheets.
  • Oversee the SBC Teams’ updates and maintenance of logs for tracking and distribution of SBC’s.
  • Acquire and maintain working knowledge of federal regulations such as the Affordable Care Act (ACA), IRS regulations and ERISA, as well as any applicable state laws and other laws/regulations as they relate to SBCs in order to understand and interpret plan language properly in an SBC.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative rapport with Health Plans’ ONCE Team, Client Services Department, and Benefit Compliance Department staff, assisting and coordinating to resolve Plan benefit language issues.
  • Elevate client issues and/or concerns to appropriate leadership, as necessary.
  • Perform other projects, assignments, and duties as assigned, including working with the Benefits Compliance Team during low volume months for SBC production.
  • Perform all work in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Five or more years’ related experience, preferably in a healthcare or employee benefits administration environment.
  • Ability to understand and interpret plan documents and health plan benefit designs.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and CRM platforms.
