Software Engineer II- Backend

Our backend stack:?

• Linux on Azure
• GraphQL API gateway
• Postgres, CosmosDB, Redis, RabbitMQ
• Java and Ruby on Rails services, deployed as docker containers
• Mesos and Kubernetes container orchestration
• Observability: Grafana metrics, Azure Data Explorer log aggregation

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, Java, Ruby
• OR equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of experience in writting maintainable code and quality tests.
• 2+ years of experience building large scale, resilient distributed systems and operating microservices
• 2+ years of experience with efficient, tenacious debugging skills using logs and metrics.

Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

• Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, Java,Ruby
• OR Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to Java,Ruby
• OR equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of experience building large scale, resilient distributed systems and operating microservices.
• 4+ years of experience with efficient, tenacious debugging skills using logs and metrics.
• Experience with multiple datastores (SQL and NoSQL) and data access patterns.
• Experience with GraphQL.

Software Engineering IC3 – The typical base pay range for this role across Canada is CAD $83,600 – CAD $159,600 per year.
