Position Summary
Reporting to the Clinical Manager, Critical Care, the successful applicant will be responsible for providing evidenced based, comprehensive, safe, effective and ethical care to all clients in need of Respiratory Therapist services.
Primary Responsibilities
- Supporting the functioning of the anesthesiology role in the Operating Room and Labour and Delivery.
- Managing mechanically ventilated patients including modification of ventilation in accordance with ventilation and weaning protocols.
- Assisting in the transport of intubated patients.
- Ongoing assessment and intervention for high risk respiratory failure patients.
- Achieving certification in intubation and arterial line insertion.
- Participating in the on call rotation.
Qualifications
- Must hold a valid certificate from the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario
- Current BCLS, ACLS certification required. PALS and NPR certification an asset.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, critical thinking, and time management skills
- Demonstrated previous clinical experience
- Demonstrated commitment to quality patient care
- Home oxygen experience an asset
- Excellent attendance and work record
