Position Summary

The Continuing Education and Training Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and enhancing the quality improvement initiatives related to resuscitation practices within the healthcare system utilizing the RQI program. This role includes developing, implementing, and evaluating training programs for healthcare professionals in resuscitation techniques, ensuring compliance with national standards, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement in patient care outcomes. The coordinator will work closely with interdisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes during cardiac arrest situations and other critical emergencies. The Continuing Education and Training Coordinator also functions as BLS/ACLS/PALS faculty for SRHS Training Center.

This role will actively participate in the operationalization of the RQI program for SRHS. The Continuing Education and Training Coordinator will serve as subject matter expert on the program, providing daily clinical support to leaders, staff, and RQI superusers throughout the organization. This role will provide an administrative lead for internal and external Training Center Instructors, troubleshoot issues and concerns with equipment/processes, enhance the rotating logistics schedule for RQI stations, and schedule classes throughout the year to meet the needs of the organization. The Continuing Education and Training Coordinator will assist with Continuing Education events and activities.

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • BSN

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years clinical experience in acute care setting.

License/Registration/Certifications

  • Active Registered Nurse license in South Carolina
  • Certification as an ACLS Instructor; BLS Instructor; PALS certified (if not current, must obtain within 1 year of hire)

Preferred Requirements

Preferred Education

  • Master’s degree in Nursing

Preferred Experience

  • 5 years clinical experience in critical care or emergency nursing
  • Experience in quality improvement processes within a healthcare setting
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences effectively

Preferred License/Registration/Certifications

  • PALS Instructor certified

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Leads quality improvement projects focused on resuscitation practices using RQI program.
  • Collaborates with Nursing Education to assist with mock codes through regular simulations and drills to enhance team performance during resuscitation scenarios.
  • Analyzes data related to cardiac arrest events and resuscitation outcomes.
  • Provides mentorship and support in effective resuscitation techniques.
  • Collaborates with resuscitation committees and interdisciplinary teams to review data and enhance resuscitation protocols.
  • Ensures all training programs meet the guidelines set by the American Heart Association (AHA) or other approved accrediting bodies.
  • Maintains accurate records of training sessions, participant evaluations, and certification renewals.
  • Stay updated on current research, trends, and changes in resuscitation guidelines.
  • Provides training and guidance to staff on RQI compliance reporting processes and best practices.
  • RQI cart maintenance.
  • Troubleshooting and resolve RQI Incident and Service request tickets.
  • HealthStream Administrator for RQI enrollment.
  • RQI Cart Rotations and Scheduling.
  • RQI Compliance Reporting.
  • Implement Get with the Guidelines Program with RQI.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
