Overview

LegalZoom is on the hunt for a dynamic and detail-oriented Associate Content Marketing Writer to join our team. This role is crucial in shaping how we distill complex topics—ranging from business formations to personal wills, and contracts to compliance matters—into accessible, engaging, and SEO-optimized content. Your primary focus will be producing high-quality SEO-driven articles, but you’ll also contribute to the development of new content formats and initiatives.


We’re seeking a go-getter who loves to learn, approaches challenges with curiosity, and delivers results. The ideal candidate is fluent in AP Style, adept at independent fact-checking, and has a knack for simplifying complicated information into reader-friendly content for a sixth- to eighth-grade reading level. You’ll collaborate cross-functionally with SEO, legal, and product marketing teams to ensure every piece reflects LegalZoom’s commitment to accuracy, industry thought leadership, and supporting our customers with best-in-class content.

You will

  • Write, edit, and refine content ranging from 400 to 6,000 words, with most under 2,500 words in a high-volume capacity
  • Learn and apply SEO best practices to create optimized content.
  • Follow assigned SEO briefs closely, ensuring all necessary keywords and subheads are included.
  • Maintain LegalZoom’s brand voice while adhering to AP Style and in-house style guidelines.
  • Conduct thorough research and perform independent fact-checking to ensure the accuracy and credibility of all content.
  • Reach out to expert sources (e.g., attorneys, tax professionals, etc.) for insightful quotes to enrich content with authoritative perspectives.
  • Utilize provided tools (such as SurferSEO) to evaluate and enhance content.
  • Break down complicated topics into simple, digestible, and actionable information for a broad audience.
  • Occasionally pitch content ideas for development.

You have

  • 1–3+ years of experience in content writing, copywriting, or digital marketing.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with an eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Fluency in AP Style.
  • Excellent research and fact-checking capabilities.
  • Expertise in writing clearly and simplifying complex concepts for general audiences.
  • A growth-oriented approach to receiving and acting on constructive feedback.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing error-free content.
  • Familiarity with SEO principles and optimization techniques.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at various stages of production.
  • Excellent time-management skills, ensuring deadlines are consistently met.
  • Creativity, adaptability, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Interest in continual improvement.
  • Proficiency in SEO tools like SurferSEO or similar platforms preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for coordinating with experts and stakeholders.

LegalZoom is a remote-first company and the national range for this role is ($65,500-$87,500). Actual compensation offered will depend on several factors including but not limited to: geographic location, work experience, education, skill level, and/or other business and organizational needs. In addition, an annual bonus, incentive bonus and/or restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package.
