The Associated Press is seeking a Data Analyst to join our expanding Business Intelligence team.
The Revenue Data Analyst will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, product, and editorial, to analyze and interpret key data related to revenue generation and customer engagement. The ideal candidate will use data to inform and drive strategic decisions that optimize revenue streams, identify new opportunities, and improve overall business performance.
The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, an understanding of revenue streams in the media environment, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights to drive revenue strategy. In this newly created role, the analyst will play a key part in shaping best practices, advancing our analytics capabilities, and driving business outcomes, all while collaborating with talented colleagues to support strategic goals through data-driven insights. This position may be remote in any U.S. location other than New York, NY where the role will be hybrid.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand the business problems they are trying to address and develop data-driven solutions.
- Leverage the data and insight generated by our products and systems to drive revenue and identify new product opportunities.
- Apply expertise in quantitative analysis, data exploration, and the presentation of data to see beyond the numbers and understand how our users interact with our products.
- Normalize and groom data from multiple and inconsistent sources to prepare it for analysis.
- Develop internal benchmarks and KPIs.
- Develop clear, concise reports and visualizations that present complex data in an easily understandable format for non-technical stakeholders.
- Create and maintain dashboards that track key revenue metrics and provide regular updates on customer and product performance.
- Provide analytics support for sales campaigns and business development efforts.
- Serve as the go-to expert for customer metrics.
Qualifications
- Passion for problem-solving and a strong sense of curiosity
- Experience analyzing large and diverse data sets to develop fact-driven plans and decisions
- Experience transforming data into clear narratives and actionable insight
- Ability to tailor communication style and presentations to different audiences
- Ability to think creatively to solve complex problems
- Ability to work independently and collaborate across multiple teams
- Skilled in data manipulation with SQL and Python/R
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, PowerBi, R Shiny)
- Expert Microsoft Excel skills along with proficiency in the full Microsoft Office Suite
- 2+ years of experience in business intelligence, data analysis, or a related role
- Advanced-level proficiency in written and spoken English
- Authorization to work in the United States for any employer
Salary & Benefits: The anticipated salary range for this position is $70,000 – 85,000, contingent on experience and other job-related factors.
