Position: Payroll Accountant

Overview: The Payroll Accountant is responsible for processing payroll and related accounting activities. They may also assist the HR Manager with administrative and operational tasks as needed.

Major Responsibilities

Payroll Accounting & Benefits:

  • Process bi-monthly payrolls, periodic bonuses, and one-off payrolls as needed.
  • Collaborate with Paylocity to review and process monthly and quarterly payroll taxes.
  • Coordinate with Paylocity to process annual W-2s and 1099s as required.
  • Manage, process, and reconcile benefits (e.g., 401k, HSA, FSA) and health insurance accounts.
  • Prepare and post journal entries and accruals; reconcile bank accounts and sub-ledgers to the general ledger.
  • Oversee and manage workers’ compensation reporting and audits.
  • Ensure compliance with current government regulations.
  • Assist the Controller with additional accounting functions as required.

HR Assistance

  • Support the HR Manager with a variety of administrative tasks.
  • Act as a back-up for the HR Manager in processing new employee onboarding and termination activities.
  • Manage employee updates, including changes in demographics, anniversaries, and related adjustments as needed.

Requirements

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Experience with QuickBooks, Sage 300, and ECI MarkSystems accounting systems is preferred.
  • Familiarity with the Paylocity payroll system is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field is preferred.
  • Demonstrates a proactive and positive approach to challenges.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Effective in both telephone and personal communications.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Competent with computers and printers.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team, solve problems, and multi-task.
  • Exemplifies the highest standards of integrity and ethical conduct in professional and personal matters.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and demeanor.

Physical Demands

  • Perform tasks requiring manual dexterity (e.g., processing paperwork, filing, stapling, sorting).
  • May occasionally perform light physical labor.

Position is located onsite/in office- not remote.
