Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with the Customs Specialists team to determine daily efforts needed to complete tariff classification requests for both Import (US HTS) and Exports (ECCN). (Ensure tariff’s reason for classification are ALWAYS notated)
- Engage in product classification sessions/meetings and team operations meetings with Internal and/or External Partners as needed, leveraging direct work that may already be executed by the Tariff Engineer Manager.
- Periodically evaluate work flow with internal and external partners and identify improvements
- Periodically analyze team’s operating procedures, identify improvements, create and innovate, and deliver training for the operations team.
- Prepare and present KPI/Metrics (weekly) reporting and discuss with the manager with focus on problem solving and forecasting.
- Take the lead in planning, execution and monitoring on EXPORT operations including RPS Restricted Party Screening processes focused on improvements when needed.
- Actively participate in the post entry review process/ ISA and discuss results with the team.
- Maintain and update HTS and FDA product code databases.
- Participate in post-product reviews executed by the Tariff Engineering Manager to deliver guidance to Specialists based on findings.
Qualifications:
- Extensive knowledge of tariff classification for both Import and Export in general merchandise, including marine industry equipment, general construction materials, and food industry equipment.
- 1+ years export operations experience
- Strong expertise in ECCN designation process.
- Confirmed ability to multi-task and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to interact optimally with others.
- Self-motivated, driven, and resilient.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, providing mentorship and assistance to others.
Capable of making independent judgments and decisions on relatively complex assignments, contributing significantly to the objectives of their area of responsibility.
