The VP, Compliance & Privacy Officer has accountability for managing certain elements of the company’s Compliance Program and assists the Chief Compliance Officer with program administration and enhancement. The VP also serves as the company’s Privacy Officer and is responsible for management of the Privacy Program.
The VP provides guidance and direction on a wide variety of compliance matters across the organization and influences key stakeholders, consistent with the company’s Code of Conduct and Compliance Program. The VP develops and mentors other members of the Compliance Department.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Essential Functions of the Position):
- Responsible to ensure that compliance concerns reported through all channels (hotline, Compliance mailbox, etc.) are investigated and resolved timely and effectively, with clear and consistent documentation. Coordinates with the Chief Compliance Officer to maintain and update investigation procedures and templates.
- Conducts investigations and assists direct reports with investigations. Tracks metrics and conducts analysis of investigations data; identifies trends and areas that may need additional review.
- Manages and enhances the company Privacy Program, consistent with the documented requirements of the Privacy Officer role. Routinely reviews and updates all HIPAA Privacy and Security policies, as well as related protocols and job aids.
- Conducts and/or oversees investigation of all privacy incidents or complaints, including oversight of all required corrective action and external reporting. Coordinates with the company’s Chief Information Security Officer on matters involving data security.
- Develops and presents meaningful reports, including participating in quarterly reports to the organization’s Compliance Committee and other leadership meetings.
- Develops and leads a high-performing team. Develops clear performance expectations, coaches, and develops employees to improve performance.
- Identifies opportunities for program enhancement and process improvement. Develops and/or assists in developing action plans and training programs.
- Provides Compliance oversight and ongoing consultation through participation in appropriate business meetings and other activities.
- Enhances the visibility of the Compliance Program and fosters a culture of compliance throughout the organization.

If you meet these qualifications, we want to meet you!
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant compliance experience in a healthcare environment, or equivalent.
- Strong subject matter expertise in patient data protection, developed from experience with HIPAA privacy program management and incident management.
- Significant experience conducting compliance investigations, preferably in a health care environment, including experience developing and overseeing corrective action plans.
- Experience in other elements of compliance program administration preferred, such as training, auditing and monitoring, and/or policy development.
- Experience managing direct reports.
- Bachelor’s Degree in health information management, Health Care Administration, or other relevant field; advanced degree preferred
- Excellent leadership skills, including the ability to manage, mentor and develop a team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly explain, influence and lead discussions on Compliance and Privacy matters
- Ability to develop rapport and facilitate collaboration and cooperation across a wide range of audiences
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, adapt to changing deadlines and prioritize work
- Ability to create and maintain a collaborative working environment and coordinate effectively across functions
