The Role
We are seeking a skilled and trend-driven Buyer to join our Los Angeles team. Working closely with the Head of Buying, Buying Team, and Design Team, you will play a key role the buying and fit process to ensure that our collections resonate with our customers, meet company objectives, and align with industry trends. This role requires a strong eye for detail, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality products.
Key Responsibilities
Fit Process Oversight:
- Collaborate with the Head of Buying and Design Team to support every stage of the fit process.
- Provide fit comments and approvals in the absence of the Head of Buying, demonstrating a strong eye for detail and garment construction.
Range Planning:
- Assess range plans and styles to ensure a relevant assortment that meets company goals, customer needs, and trend forecasts.
- Regularly update the internal database to ensure all departments have up-to-date and accurate collection information.
Trend Forecasting:
- Stay updated on industry trends, fashion shows, and emerging styles.
- Conduct sales and metric research to predict trends and inform buying decisions.
- Develop design direction and strategy when required.
Critical Path Management:
- Manage and monitor the critical path for collections to ensure timelines are met.
- Identify and flag potential issues early to ensure a smooth production process.
Stock Management:
- Develop strategies to address slow-moving stock or repeat shapes.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to curate shop buttons, seasonal highlights, and reshoot plans for underperforming items.
Customer-Centric Approach:
- Ensure the customer is at the heart of all decisions, from selecting colors and prints to the garment fitting process.
Collaboration and Strategy:
- Communicate with the marketing team to align collection objectives and strategies.
- Manage and fulfill Open-To-Buy (OTB) plans to ensure the company meets sales targets.
Requirements
- Excellent trend forecasting and analytical skills to predict and respond to customer needs.
- Proven experience in a buying role within the fashion industry, with a strong understanding of the fit process.
- Strong knowledge of garment construction, fit, and design.
- Exceptional organizational skills to manage critical paths and multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in using buying tools, databases, and reporting systems.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and communicate effectively.
- Customer-focused mindset with a passion for fashion and trends.
