Job Overview:
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the shipping industry, with a focus on project cargo, finished vehicle logistics, and Roll-on/Roll-off (RoRo) movements. This individual will be responsible for coordinating, managing, and overseeing all aspects of shipping and logistics operations to ensure timely, cost-effective, and safe delivery of goods. The role requires exceptional organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills to manage complex logistics operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Cargo Management: Coordinate the logistics for the transportation of large and complex cargo, ensuring compliance with shipping regulations and handling of special equipment and permits.
- Finished Vehicle Logistics: Oversee the shipment of finished vehicles, including coordination with manufacturers, shipping lines, customs authorities, and port terminals to ensure seamless delivery.
- RoRo Movements: Manage Roll-on/Roll-off (RoRo) operations, including booking, documentation, and tracking of vehicles and other wheeled cargo.
- Customs Compliance: Ensure all shipments adhere to international shipping regulations, customs requirements, and local import/export laws.
- Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and review shipping documentation such as bills of lading, customs forms, and other relevant documents, ensuring all paperwork is completed accurately and on time.
- Coordination with Vendors: Manage relationships with shipping lines, freight forwarders, and port authorities to secure the best rates and ensure timely deliveries.
- Problem–Solving: Address any issues related to delayed shipments, damaged goods, or customs clearance, providing timely resolutions to maintain customer satisfaction.
- Route Optimization: Work with the team to determine the most efficient and cost-effective shipping routes, considering factors such as transit time, cost, and cargo safety.
- Customer Communication: Provide regular updates to clients regarding shipment status and any potential issues, offering solutions and advice as needed.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other departments (such as procurement, warehousing, and customer service) to ensure smooth operations and effective communication across the supply chain.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the shipping or logistics industry, with specific involvement in project cargo, finished vehicle logistics, and RoRo movements.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of international shipping regulations, customs clearance processes, and the specific requirements for project cargo, finished vehicle logistics, and RoRo operations.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in shipping management software and MS Office Suite. Familiarity with Freight Forwarding Software and ERP systems is a plus.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (Arabic is a plus). Ability to liaise effectively with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
- Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously while maintaining high attention to detail.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to think critically and solve logistical problems under pressure to ensure smooth operations and client
- satisfaction.Education: A degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred.
