Position Overview

The Senior Project Scheduler is a critical role focused on the successful planning and execution of complex commercial construction projects. Based in Norfolk, VA, this on-site position requires expertise in vertical construction and involves creating, monitoring, and refining project schedules to eliminate design discrepancies, optimize resources, and enhance efficiency. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in scheduling for large-scale projects, leveraging tools like Primavera P6 and 3D modeling to drive results.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules in collaboration with project teams and trade partners.
  • Produce conceptual schedules independently for review and refinement with stakeholders.
  • Oversee all project scheduling activities, ensuring compliance with company standards and client expectations.
  • Monitor, analyze, and update design deliverables, procurement, and construction schedules.
  • Review and critique vendor and subcontractor schedule updates, verifying accuracy and progress.
  • Understand and manage the flow and logistics required for successful project execution.
  • Maintain a database of probable activity durations to inform scheduling accuracy and efficiency.
  • Provide regular status updates, forecasts, and progress reports to project management.
  • Collaborate with project managers to resolve delays, improve processes, and recommend workaround plans to maintain project timelines.
  • Perform other duties as requested by project management.

Skills And Qualifications

  • Required Experience:
  • 5+ years of experience in industrial or commercial construction, with a strong focus on vertical construction (mid-rise, high-rise, data centers, or distribution centers).
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6 and ERP cost management tools.
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel, Word, and 3D modeling in scheduling (preferred).
  • Broad knowledge of construction disciplines and scheduling best practices.
  • Education:
    • Bachelors Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Business Administration (preferred).

      • Excellent prioritization and organizational skills with a detail-oriented approach.
