Position Summary:

Under the general guidance and supervision of the Corporate Director/Asst. Director of Engineering and within the limits established by Chroma Hospitality Inc. and Filinvest Hospitality Corporation policies and procedures: prepares and enforces policies to establish a culture of health and safety; develops and effective execution of health and safety programs in the workplace according to legal guidelines; evaluate practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law in all operating properties and projects being developed and constructed including but not limited to regular inspection and audits, constant development and revision of standards to suit the company’s needs, follow-up with regards to compliance, review of plans and projects coordination. Constantly coordinates with architects and engineers to implement improvements to enhance the hotel guests experience and improve the facilities to conform to changing needs of the customers.

Scope and Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the development, implementation, monitoring, and improvement through revisions of different safety manuals such as the Fire Life Safety manual, and Occupational Safety and Health standards.
  • Updating and improvement of standards by implementing new technologies and techniques, guests and user preferences, updates to products and services, and actual site conditions.
  • Must be up-to-date on all local and national codes and regulations to ensure adherence to laws and policies.
  • Perform regular audits and reviews of property practices with regards to overall fire life and safety to ensure they all meet the codes and regulations.
  • Does follow-ups with regards to audit findings that are not complying with the standards and assists through recommendation and coordination.
  • Monitors Fire Life and safety-related permits.
  • Recommends ways to improve compliance.
  • Provides project team with guidance on health and safety and confirms compliance of project site to industry and local regulations.
  • Attends and coordinates activities with regards to project meetings, trainings, design discussions, etc., together with other staff of CHI and Hotel Planning.
  • Discuss project progress and design compliance with architects and engineers.
  • Schedules and attends meetings with engineers and contractors of managed properties as needed.
  • Constant coordination with property Safety Officers, Fire Life Safety Managers, Chief Engineers, Security Managers, and maybe PCOs.
  • Visits properties and project sites upon instruction of his/her direct superior.
  • Makes recommendations according to the required standards and by hazard identification.
  • Responsible for checking contractors actual work if observing safe work ethics.
  • Identified violations are required to be addressed immediately according to the codes and regulations.
  • Prepares inspection reports and submits to the Director/Asst. Director of Engineering, GMs.
  • Prepares audit reports.
  • Prepares correspondence and minutes of meetings as needed.
  • Submits accomplishment reports to his/her superior.
  • Reviews Fire Protection Construction and As-Built Drawings (and other trades where occupational safety is incorporated) as needed and make recommendations.
  • Contributes ideas necessary to strategize for future plans.
  • Monitors work of contractors in the head office and implements safety monitoring and
  • compliance.
  • Conducts safety trainings.
  • Conducts safety audits to managed properties and the head office.
  • Develops emergency and safety procedures.
  • Participates in activities concerning the protection the of environment.
  • Develops, promotes, upholds, and applies environmentally friendly practices.
  • Contributes and practices awareness to minimize wastage and resource depletion.

Qualifications:

  • College Graduate/ BS Engineering graduate
  • At least 5 years of working experience in Hotel operation, construction, property management, Manufacturing, etc.
  • Completed the BOSH, COSH, Fire Safety, Accident Investigation Training, Risk Assessment/Management, WEM, and other higher safety training
  • PCO is an advantage
  • Minimum 5 years safety practitioner with experience in hospitality
  • Proficient with Microsoft Programs
  • Preferably possesses a Driving License but not required
  • Familiar with Building Code, OSH and Fire Code
  • Experience in performing standard audits is an advantage.
  • Exposure with ISO, OSHAS, and Environmental and other International Standards Knowledge of fire safety preferable
