Position Summary:

The Inside Sales representative will compile and maintain a list of potential customers and establish preliminary contact. This role performs multiple tasks by supporting sales staff with the preparation of information that allows for appropriate quotes, scheduling of meetings or introductions for sales personnel, and provide record-keeping of pending and ongoing projects.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Research local market for potential customer opportunities; utilize established means for lead generation, which may include reviewing printed periodicals, internet searches, social media, or attending local trades events.
  • Collect, compile, and maintain current prospective lists and electronic records that contain potential customer information.
  • Establish point-of-contact and determine decision-maker contact information for each potential customer.
  • May assist sales staff or complete quotes requiring immediate attention when salespersons are unavailable.
  • Assist with obtaining 3 rd party quotes for services such as crane service, equipment rentals, delivery of materials, or other items as necessary.
  • Generate daily paperwork, such as work orders, purchase orders, etc. and ensure that all pertinent information is noted, all necessary documents are attached.
  • Communicate with customers as requested regarding change orders, storage confirmations, new customer information packets, etc.
  • Administers the job packet process from collection of job packet documents thru preparing packets for final review and submission to accounting admin for customer invoicing.
  • Create, update and maintain documents and spreadsheets for customer, inventory requirements and special projects.
  • Arrange sales meetings including keeping & distributing meeting minutes.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned or necessary.

Minimum Qualifications (Experience, Skills, and Education):

  • HS Diploma or equivalent necessary; higher education (Associate’s degree) preferred.
  • Previous experience in fast paced construction environment preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Outlook and Power Point with advanced Excel and data entry skills.
  • Good understanding of customer or MEI specific software or the ability to learn quickly; knowledge of and prior experience with SalesForce preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Must have excellent organization skills; be detail oriented.
  • Is self-directed and self-motivated, with good time management skills; demonstrated ability to work under deadlines and specified timeframes effectively.
  • Professional appearance and attitude. Establishes good relationships quickly and keeps a customer-focused demeanor.
  • Comfortable with cold-calling techniques; practices good closing skills.
  • Handles rejection professionally, with the ability to maintain good customer relations.
  • Effectively able to maintain discretion and confidentiality of employee and customer information as appropriate.
  • Ability to multi-task and process multiple activities successfully and accurately.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Standard office environment including work at a computer terminal. Work involves extended periods of sitting, occasional walking and lifting up to 10 pounds. Frequent use of hands and lower arm extremities. The Inside Sales representative may occasionally be exposed to slick or uneven terrain, or non-climate-controlled warehouse environments.
