Job Description For Sr. SCADA/ SAS Engineer
Job Title: Sr. SCADA/ SAS Engineer
About The Role
As a Test Engineer (Substation Automation System), you will be responsible for testing Substation Automation Systems for various voltage levels in India and abroad. You will be involved in different project phases, including understanding client requirements, preparing RTU & HMI configurations, testing, and customer inspections. Additionally, you will support the Project Management, Engineering, and Commissioning teams to ensure smooth project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Configuration, testing, and troubleshooting of Substation Automation products/systems.
- Understanding and analyzing client requirements and project-specific documents.
- Preparing and configuring RTU & HMI based on approved documents.
- Testing and factory inspection of systems with customers.
- Providing support to Project Management, Engineering, and Commissioning teams.
- Configuring and testing Ethernet Switches, Routers, and Firewalls.
- Working with various communication types such as Ethernet, Fiber optic, Serial RS232/RS485, PLCC.
- Handling Substation Automation and communication protocols like SNMP, SNTP, Modbus, IEC60870-5-103, IEC61850, IEC60870-5-101, and IEC60870-5-104.
- Reading and verifying panel drawings and schemes.
- Ensuring technical compliance of hardware/software systems.
- Preparing HMI configurations, including SLD, System Architecture, Bay Views, and Interlock Views.
- Configuring and testing RTU systems (A8000) and Device Manager.
- Testing SAS systems and integrating them with various IEDs/Meters/Devices.
- Managing Customer FAT and inspection compliance.
- Demonstrating excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Applying critical thinking, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
- Being a team player who is agile, resilient, and eager to learn.
- Building knowledge in new areas and collaborating on new solutions and technologies.
- Having a basic understanding of Electrical Protection Systems is preferred.
Job Qualification Criteria
- 5+ years of experience in the relevant field.
- Knowledge of client requirement analysis and various architectures like RSTP, PRP, and HSR.
- Hands-on experience in configuring and testing network equipment.
- Experience with substation automation and various communication protocols.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and verify system compliance.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
