Job Description

Serves as the litigation paralegal to trial lawyer in preparing cases for trial. The litigation paralegal will aid in all trial preparation needs for the plaintiff, personal injury cases. This position requires the ability to work under minimal supervision. Must have knowledge of the Code of Civil Procedure, principles of spelling and grammar, and has the ability to meet deadlines under time constraints.

Job Duties

  • Assist attorneys in all phases of litigation, from drafting/filing lawsuit through trial.
  • Manage litigation calendar and all required deadlines.
  • Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
  • Organize and maintain case files and documents using document management system.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as data entry and filing
  • Manage calendars, schedule appointments, and coordinate meetings for attorneys.
  • Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
  • Assist with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits and witness files.

Qualifications

  • 3-7 years’ experience as a paralegal in personal injury litigation
  • Prior litigation or paralegal experience, or paralegal degree/certificate/certification.
  • Civil litigation experience in the area of insurance defense or personal injury
  • Background in preparing/requesting discovery, medical record collection
  • Working knowledge of Washington Civil Rules of Procedure and Local Rules.
  • Strong computer skills and experience working in an electronic/digital environment
  • Complete work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Work Environment

This job operates in an office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Our office is also dog-friendly!

Essential Physical Functions

  • Safely lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds
  • Heavy computer and keyboard work

Position Type/Expected Hours Of Work

This is a full-time position. Days of work are Monday through Friday; hours can start as early as 8:00 AM and continue as late as 6:00 PM, based on an eight-hour day. Position may require extra work hours (overtime) and schedules may be modified according to our operational needs.

Travel

This position does not require travel.

Required Education And Experience

  • 3-7 experience in personal injury litigation
  • Computer skills: Proficient in G-Suite, MS Office, Westlaw Form Builder and Adobe
  • Filing documents with court via Odyssey
