Senior Mechanical Engineer – Sydney

Job Description

COMPASS Recruitment are working with a leading multidisciplinary engineering consultancy, who have a track record in delivering engineering solutions across the Water sector, in their search for a Senior Mechanical engineer.

The role is based in North Sydney in a contemporary office space within walking distance of the train station and the Sydney Harbor Bridge. The client also offers flexible working arrangements to suit with initial expectations of 2 – 3 days in the office.

To Be Successful In This Role You Will Need

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 8 or more years’ of experience in the relevant engineering discipline
  • Experience in concept and detailed engineering design of process systems, process and mechanical equipment and valve & piping systems.
  • Experience in water and wastewater industry
  • Experience in managing the engineering and design aspects of multi-disciplinary projects
  • Experience in preparation of project design objectives, schedules and programs, risk management plans and cost management
  • Understanding of working with a multi-disciplinary team
  • Ability to work independently with external local and overseas partners

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Member of Engineers Australia
  • Knowledge of process elements including P&IDs, process functional descriptions, control philosophy, etc.
  • A good understanding of operational requirements, process interruption issues, brownfield installation planning.
  • Awareness of project management principals
  • Experience in HAZOP / CHAIR / Other Safety in Design processes

You will be providing engineering design management and mechanical design services to a range of clients including contractors and water utilities.

The client operates a close-knit team who look to support each other in achieving the best outcome for the client. They undertake work directly for Water authorities and other utilities as well as partnering with chosen contractors to tender on treatment plant upgrades, pump stations and other important water and wastewater infrastructure.

You will have opportunities to deliver innovative and practical design solutions and explore the use of digital engineering, drones, and emerging technology to do so. It is an exciting time for the team, with several major programs to support and a high investment in the water sector.
