Position Overview
The Assistant Security Manager is responsible for assisting the Security Manager in the coordination of security operations, as well as managing, training and performance of the security personnel. The Assistant Security Manager will play an integral role in maintaining the overall security and protection of the Casino in accordance with all relevant policies and procedures and Alberta Gaming & Liquor Commission (AGLC) terms and conditions pertaining to the operation of the casino.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a valid AGLC license and reports to the Security Manager
- Assist with the recruitment, selection, orientation, training, coaching, counselling, and disciplining of security personnel.
- Assists in writing and developing security policies and procedures for the security department.
- Manage the schedules of security personnel and tracking their attendance
- Prepares and submits bi-weekly payroll
- Responsible for overall training of department staff and development and implementation of a standard operating procedure manual for department.
- Responsible for conducting internal investigations, reports and correspondence as required,
- Ensures department’s daily records are accurately maintained.
Education And Experience
- Must have a minimum of five years of casino security experience
- Must possess supervisory and/or management skills
- Knowledge of security operations, O.S.H.A. regulations, safety and investigations.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent leadership / motivation skills.
- AML (Anti-Money Laundering) Certificate
- AGLC Smart Training Certificates: Pro Serve, Pro Tect, Deal Us (Phase 1 & 2)
- First Aid.
- Must be able to pass a criminal records check.
- Must be able to acquire and maintain a valid AGLC license.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Must have a minimum of five years of casino security experience

- Knowledge of security operations, O.S.H.A. regulations, safety and investigations.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent leadership / motivation skills.
- Excellent organization and planning skills.
- Excellent knowledge in various computers programs including Microsoft Office (Word,
Excel, etc.).
- Ability to be a TEAM player
- Ability to work flexible shifts and days of the week including holidays
- Must be aware of and able to work in a smoking environment.
- Exposure to Scents/Perfumes.
