Position Overview

Under the direction of the Front of the House Manager, Shift Supervisor or Dual Shift Supervisor, the Hostess/Cashier is responsible for greeting and seating guests within the buffet in a timely manner. Emphasis must be placed on exceptional customer service as the Host-Hostess in many instances will be the first contact that our customers will have with an employee. The Cashier is responsible for conducting and reconciling money transactions in an accurate and timely manner. Emphasis must be placed on exceptional customer service, as the Cashier will be conducting transactions directly with customers. Attention to detail is required for balancing purposes at the start and end of each specified shift. All necessary precautions are required to ensure the safety and health of customers and ensure that safe work practices are adhered to at all times. Other responsibilities include assisting the Front of the House Manager, Supervisor(s), Servers and Porters in areas when and where required. This position involves frequent standing, walking and attention to detail during the course of the shift

Education And Experience

  • A valid Alberta Pro Serve Certification
  • 1-2 years experience in cash handling experience in a fast paced environment.
  • 1-2 years experience in a Host-Hostess capacity working in a fast paced environment.
  • Experience working with POS systems would be an asset. (an asset)

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Possess excellent interpersonal and strong verbal and written communication skills to promote and deliver impeccable service and standards at all times.
  • Organizational skills as well as attention to detail.
  • Ability to work and thrive in a team oriented environment, and be able to function independently also
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding area and be familiar with a high-volume, fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
  • Must be available for shift-work, be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Must be aware of and able to work in a smoking environment
  • May require lifting weight of up to approximately 50 lbs.
