What To Expect

As a New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineering Technician at Tesla, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring the seamless launch of our newest Power Electronics products and sub-components. You’ll prepare materials and tools for NPI builds, trial new materials, and maintain NPI core functions to a high standard. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure line readiness, meeting critical timelines through effective execution of key milestones. Your role will involve hands-on product build validation, supporting field investigations, and providing constructive feedback to drive process improvements. You’ll be part of a team that collaborates to bring innovative products and services to market, ensuring the highest quality and efficiency in our manufacturing processes.

What You’ll Do

Responsible for preparing materials and tools for performing NPI builds, frequently trialing new materials and maintaining the various NPI core functions to a high standardBe able to execute efficiently against provided instructions, self-validate work for accuracy, check the quality of previous operations, and meet critical deadlinesThe NPI Engineering Technician shall have the capacity to be able to provide constructive feedback, define/iterate standard work, and suggest process improvementsThe NPI Engineering Technician will also support field investigations, instrumented/non-Plan of Record builds, and unique projects in support of our cross-functional teamsExperience with hand tools, machine tools, and use of semi-automated and automated manufacturing equipment is necessary. Significant experience in (1) or more – electrical, automotive, energy and/or mechanical areas is a plusProvide support to engineers in the development, fabrication, and optimization of electromechanical manufacturing equipment. Assist in troubleshooting equipment or process issues and implementing improvements.Move and carry parts from storage to the build area

Support Engineering teams in early prototyping product phases and provide iterative feedback toward continuous product improvement objectives to ensure program successResponsible for high quality activities, including self-inspection, and thorough inspection of the process in its entiretyCommunicates test results, ideas, and problems to supervisor and engineers; able to be part of the solutionTypically involves a variety of operations (including troubleshooting and rework) requiring a sufficient nderstanding of the functional operation of the items assembled as well as the finished productPerform varying degrees (basic to complex) of electro-mechanical assembly work and be able to work independently once a task is assigned, make connections with other employees, and work fluidly with the team to achieve great resultsSupport trials of new parts and materials to ensure seamless production implementationSupport the NPI team during all phases of product introduction (launch and sustaining)

Expected Compensation

$28.80 – $56.40/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
