Position Summary

The Senior Human Resources Generalist administers human resources policies and programs, balancing employee advocacy and business operating needs. Promote equity, fair treatment, and positive employee relations and ensure compliance with state and federal employment laws. Recruitment and retention of critical talent, continuous performance coaching, pro-active issue/problem identification and resolution, and coaching and development for more effective decisions and communication skills. Understand and support the accomplishment of business goals. Build credible relationships with business leaders allowing for better decisions and organizational effectiveness. Involved in solving complex HR-related issues.

The Senior Human Resources Generalist will provide an approachable, proactive, and efficient department, and keep co-workers well informed. Work independently and when needed with HRBP or SR HR Director for guidance and support.

Principal Duties And Essential Functions

  • Oversees the daily workflow and carries out administrative work involving the human resources functions and maintains related records.
  • Complete knowledge of company policies, programs and procedures and informs employee and management on the interpretation of policies. May create location/market specific policies.
  • May lead or have professional responsibilities over Human Resources clerical support.
  • Handles full cycle recruiting for timely hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with department managers to understand skills and competencies required for the openings.
  • Conducts new hire orientations
  • May provide counseling to supervisors and managers on methods and approaches to resolve complex employee relation issues with guidance from HRBP or Sr. Human Resources Director.
  • Timely response to employment related inquiries from employees and staff, related to complex and/or sensitive matters with guidance from HRBP or Sr. Human Resources Director.
  • Conducting workplace investigations and administering disciplinary procedures with guidance from HRBP or Sr. Human Resources Director.
  • Weekly payroll processing, verifying timecard accuracy and maintaining accurate ADP data. Run ADP reports.
  • Maintain I-9s and E-Verify compliance
  • Process terminations and conduct exit interviews.
  • Rollout company-wide Human Resources initiatives.
  • Participate and/or may lead an HR company-wide strategic initiative. with guidance from HRBP or Sr. Human Resources Director.
  • Coordinate/schedules HR complaint training programs
  • Assist with Wellness initiatives and support Benefit Open Enrollment process.
  • Ensure training and development requirements are met by employee’s managers.
  • Member of the site Leadership Team
  • Liaison between the Employee Ownership Team and Senior Leadership Team
  • Support Performance Management and Career Development utilizing the Career Pathway tools & process with guidance from HRBP or Sr. Director of HR.
  • Drafting and distribution of communications (postings, plant meetings, etc.)
  • Support Change Management
  • Provide labor analytics to management as needed and participate in workforce planning
  • Support Leave of Absence programs and processes including transitional work and accommodations including Workers Compensation administration, OSHA requirement and promoting safety.
  • Stays current with compliance with federal, state and local employment laws and regulations and best practices.
  • Participates and represents the company on Unemployment requirements to include documentation and telephone hearings.
  • Participates in requested HR team meetings.
  • May be required to provide HR support at multiple sites within the market.
  • Performs other duties and project work as assigned.

Additional REQUIRED Qualifications/Skills

  • Minimum Associates Degree in human resources or business with 5 years or more of HR Experience.
  • Proficient with ADP WFN including payroll, benefits enrollment, and other HR related tools
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, approachability, and strong listening skills under stress in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to handle confidential situations with professionalism and diplomacy.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines.

  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Excel or related software.

Additional PREFERRED Qualifications/Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field and/or 4-6 years of HR related experience and proven HR applied proficiency in several HR functional areas.
  • PHR Certified Professional and/or SHRM-CP certification
  • Travel to other out of state locations may be required.
  • Support of multiple business sites
