So, what will the Labor and Employee Relations Specialist at Terrestris do?

The Labor and Employee Relations Specialist role provides comprehensive administrative support to the NSWCPD’s Labor and Employee Relations Branch, located within the Human Resources (HR) Office. This role is integral to the efficient operation of a wide variety of HR programs and functions, including Employee Relations, Labor Relations, Awards, Benefits, Performance Management, Workers’ Compensation, Telework, Leave Programs, Health and Wellness, and more. The position involves facilitating key administrative tasks and ensuring that the day-to-day operations of these programs are executed effectively and in compliance with organizational policies and procedures.

What does a typical day look like for a Labor and Employee Relations Specialist?

The Labor and Employee Relations Specialist’s day is dynamic. The role involves supporting various HR programs by managing case files, processing Workers’ Compensation claims, and providing information on leave, telework, and benefits. They coordinate meetings, assist with awards ceremonies, track nominations, and ensure performance appraisals are filed and reports generated. Additionally, they help with employee documentation, including telework agreements and retirement requests, ensuring all records are accurate and up to date.

What qualifications do you look for?

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and performance management systems.
  • Knowledge of HR policies, procedures, and practices, particularly in the areas of Employee Relations, Labor Relations, and Benefits administration.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with HR program specialists and other team members.
  • Experience in a human resources support role, with a focus on administrative tasks, is preferred.
